Ingredients: (makes 6 burgers)
For the mixture:
-2 tins of chickpeas
-1 tin of butter beans (can use any other beans, such as kidney)
– 1 onion, chopped
-1 tbsp plain flour
-3 garlic cloves, pressed
-1 tsp ground cumin
-1 tsp chilli powder
-1 tbsp mixed herbs
-1 tbsp ketchup
-1 tbsp water
-0.5 tsp bicarbonate of soda
-0.5 tsp lemon juice
-1 handful of fresh coriander
-some salt and pepper
For the rest of the burger:
-sesame seeds
-6 bread rolls
-toppings eg. lettuce, hummous, grilled halloumi, fried chorizo, onions, tomato, cheese (or whatever you want)
Method:
1) Put all of the ingredients for the mixture into a blender and pulse together until chopped but not too mushy.
2) Put some flour on a chopping board, and form the mixture into patties.
3) Cover the patties with the sesame seeds.
4) Put oil into a pan to heat up. Place the burgers, in batches, into the pan and cook on each side for about 3 minutes.
5) Fill up your burger. I put tomatoes, grilled halloumi, avocado, fried chorizo and hummous in mine.
