Hot mulled punch is a non-alcoholic version of mulled wine. This is especially good to make during Christmas for kids, people who are driving or people who don’t drink alcohol.
Ingredients: (serves 2)
-1 cup of grape juice
-1 cup of apple juice
-1 fresh orange, sliced
-3 cardamom pods
-2 cloves
-2 cinnamon sticks
-2 star anise
-0.5 tsp cinnamon powder
-A pinch of mixed spice powder
-1 tsp vanilla paste/ extract
-Honey (to serve)
Method:
1)Put all the ingredients (except the cinnamon powder, mixed spice powder, vanilla paste and honey) in a pan and bring to the boil.
2) Add the cinnamon powder, mixed spice powder and vanilla paste to the pan, and bring to the boil again.
3) Strain the mulled punch with a sieve.
4) Pour the punch into glasses. Add honey to serve- the spices can make the punch a bit bitter sometimes so I usually add about 1-2 tsp honey.
Serve by putting one of the oranges you used, into the glass and add a cinnamon stick on the rim of the glass.
